Fireworks at Tennessee National

Tennessee National held it’s first annual Independence Day BBQ and Fireworks display for our members, property owners and residents on July 5th! A wonderful time was had by everyone and the evening concluded with a fabulous fireworks display from Pyro Shows.

Tennessee National hosting Tennessee Junior Amateur!

Tennessee National Golf Club is proud to be hosting the very prestigous 47th Annual Tennessee Junior Amateur Championship. 72 of the state’s best junior golfers will be playing to hold the title of the 2010 Tennessee State Junior Amateur Champion.

Practice rounds are today and tournament play starts tomorrow morning at 9am. The tournament continues through Friday, each day starting at 9am. Check out www.tnjunioram.com for live scoring, groupings and start times and more.

Gecsei and Tucker Win 2010 Men’s Member-Guest!

Congratulations to Mr. Jim Gecsei & Mr. Tom Tucker our 2010 Tennessee National Member-Guest Champions! There was a playoff for the runner-up position with Mr. Bill Schmidt and Mr. Chuck Benedict playing off against Mr. Bill Jenkins and Mr. Jerry Whitehead. Schmidt and Benedict came out victorious and took the runner-up trophies.

The tournament began on Friday with a fabulous dinner prepared by Debbie Armstrong and her team and included: filet mignon, lobster tails, baked potato bar, asparagus and ice cream cake for dessert.

Saturday all competitors played 27 holes in the 90+ temperatures. Mr. Steve Boucher, guest of Mr. Todd Copic, was undeterred by the heat and scored a hole in one on #3!

Sunday the tournament concluded with the traditional shoot out, awards, hors d’oeuvres and after play drinks. Because of the overwhelming response of the new tournament format, five nine-hole matches, we have decided to use this format for member-guest tournaments in the future.

Forbes Magazine ranks Knoxville #8 city in the country to raise a family

Knoxville, TN and the sunsphere

Knoxville has been ranked as the eighth best city in the country to raise a family by Forbes Magazine. They cite the low cost of living. low rate of crime and solid educational prospects put Knoxville high on the list. We are lucky to have the excellent University of Tennessee educational system in Knoxville along with wonderful pre-schools, elementary, middle and high schools. There are also other great educational opportunities in Knoxville, Pellissippi State Community College, Tusculum College and South College just to name a few.

Knoxville is also located on the Tennessee River, an ideal location for water sports lovers and outdoor enthusiests. Great Smoky Mountain National Park, the most visited National Park in the country is just a short drive from Knoxville as well.
